Two-time Olympic silver medalist Viktoria Komova of Russia is at risk of missing the 2013 European Championships due to a back injury.

 

The upcoming Russian National Championships, March 1-7 in Penza, serves as the qualifier to the European Championships which are to be held in Moscow in April. 

 

Komova began experiencing problems with her back a week ago during a workout at the training camp in Round Lake, the Russian Olympic training center. She began small treatments immediately but has not seen a change. Komova will reportedly spend the new few days seeking a proper diagnosis and the needed medical treatment. 

 

As the 2012 Olympic All Around silver medalist and the 2011 World Champion on uneven bars, Komova will be a valuable asset to the Russian team at Europeans if they hope to win gold on home soil.
