With the recent findings of the McLaren report, it is still undecided as to whether Russia will be completely banned from competing in Rio due to widespread doping, but there is currently no evidence that any gymnasts have been involved. The FIG expressed its concerns with this possible blanket ban, noting that that not all Russian athletes of all sports should be banned and found guilty for actions in other sports and federations.

It would be a huge shame, and highly unfair, for Russian gymnastics to not be able to field their talented teams in Rio. Not only would it decrease the level of the competitive field at the most important event of the quad, but the results of the Games would feel tainted by their absence.
