Penn State Head Coach Jeff Thompson Fired, Effective Immediately
Penn State has announced that Jeff Thompson has been relieved of his duties as the Nittany Lions' head gymnastics coach, effective immediately.
Following allegations of abuse by several former student-athletes, the Penn State women's gymnastics team has seen big changes in its leadership over the past year. Former PSU associate head coach Rachelle Thompson resigned in June 2016, and now her husband, Jeff Thompson, has been relieved of his duties as head coach, effective immediately.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- Penn State Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour announced today that women's gymnastics head coach Jeff Thompson has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.
Thompson was in his seventh year as head coach of the Nittany Lions.
Assistant coaches Kera Molinaro and Josh Nilson will serve as interim co-head coaches for the remainder of the season. A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately
Consistent with university policy, this is a personnel matter and Intercollegiate Athletics will not have any further comment.
