College gymnasts are known for their exaggerated salutes, fist pumping, and celebrating after successful routines. Freshman Florida gymnast Peyton Ernst is taking this salute to a new back-breaking level. Watch the video she posted on Twitter below:
While we're not sure if Ernst will bring a salute that big to the competition floor, she is sure to draw eyes with her elegant style and difficult but clean skills. As an experienced elite, she will add to the NCAA Champions' already stacked roster.
Ernst is from Coppell, Texas where she trained at Texas Dreams with Kim Zmeskal-Burdette and Chris Burdette. While on the senior national team, she represented USA in multiple international competitions. In 2013, she placed second all-around at three top level meets: the USA, Germany, Romania Tri-Meet, the Tokyo World Cup, and the Mexican Open. At the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy, she placed second all-around and was part of USAÂ’s gold medal winning squad. She then went on to help USA to first at the 2014 Pac Rim Championships. Unfortunately, she suffered injuries which kept her out of competition for part of 2014 and 2015.
We featured Ernst in last yearÂ’s Beyond the Routine with Texas Dreams. You can watch an episode all about Peyton here.
When Ernst signed her National Letter of Intent last year, Florida head coach at the time Rhonda Faehn said “Peyton has already reached incredible heights on the international elite level and will bring excellence and poise to all four events. She is a skilled and confident competitor and will have an immediate impact on our program. I know that Peyton will have a tremendous Gator career. She has a beautiful and unique style to her gymnastics that will bring an artistic flair to the Gator line up.”
