FloGymnastics: Which athlete(s) (any sport) do you most respect and why?

Elizabeth Price: The athlete I respect the most is Serena Williams. Her level of commitment to her sport is that of a champion and her ability to persevere through all the doubt and negative criticism thrown her way along her journey is inspiring. Serena’s not just an amazing athlete but also a remarkable woman, one with more physical and mental strength than I’d ever believe possible and that’s why I respect her more than any other athlete.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Marvel’s The Avengers. I love super heroes and I think this movie franchise is pretty awesome.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time to relax?

My favorite thing to do in my free time is to listen to music. Whatever mood I’m in there’s always a perfect playlist waiting to be heard.

What is the biggest sacrifice you have made to be in gymnastics?

The biggest sacrifice I’ve made to be in gymnastics was getting homeschooled after I became an elite. In order to continue to get better I needed to spend more time in the gym and the best way for that to happen was for me to start homeschooling. This was a huge sacrifice because I loved school.

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, I want to be a biomechanical engineer. I want to design and build new medical devices that are inexpensive, easy to use and durable for hospitals and clinics in poor and underdeveloped nations. If all goes well, more people around the world will have access to the safe and efficient medical care available here in the U.S.

What is your favorite event and why?

My favorite event is bars because I enjoy doing a bunch of different releases and connecting skills.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

My favorite flavor of ice cream is cookie dough!

How old were you when you started gymnastics and how did you get involved?

I started gymnastics when I was three. I had too much energy and my parents needed a way to tire me out, so they decided to enroll me in gymnastics.

Do you have a history of gymnasts in your family?

No one in my family did gymnastics before me.

What keeps you motivated in the gym?

What keeps me motivated in the gym are my teammates. They’re always working hard and supporting me and that helps motivate me to always give 100 percent. I want to do everything I can to help the team reach our goals.

What is your perfect pizza?

My perfect pizza would be a classic thin-crust pepperoni pizza.

What’s your biggest fear?

Although there are some pretty frightening skills in the sport of gymnastics, my biggest fear is spiders. I’m not quite sure what made me so scared of them in the first place but nothing scares me more than a spider in my room.

What is the most played song on your phone/iPod?

The two most-played songs on my iPod at the moment are “Grand Piano” and “Buy a Heart” by Nicki Minaj. She’s my favorite artist so it’s no surprise that she sings my top two most-played songs, both of which have been played over 130 times.

What’s one food you just can’t stand?

One food I can’t stand is whipped cream. I don’t know what it is but I don’t like anything with whipped cream on it.
