FloGymnastics will be providing exclusive coverage of the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy, March 16-20 in Jesolo, Italy. FloPRO members will have instant and unlimited access to all of our content including training videos leading up to the competition and a LIVE stream of the entire competition.
The Jesolo Trophy serves as an important early season meet in the always exciting Olympic year and countries in attendance include Italy, USA, Brazil, France, Canada, Finland, and Slovenia.
The event consists of a junior all-around competition, senior team and all-around competition, and junior and senior event finals. For the team competition, a country is allowed up to six on a team and will count four scores per event. The top eight juniors and top eight seniors qualify to event finals, with a maximum of two per country.
USA will be sending 13 top gymnasts led by Olympic and World Champions Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman. For seven of the nine seniors, this will be their first international competition of the year. Gymnasts will be performing new skills and routines and will feel the pressure to prove themselves to National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi and the entire selection committtee.
Other gymnasts on USA’s roster include World Champions MyKayla Skinner and Ashton Locklear, as well as U.S. Junior National Champion Laurie Hernandez. Hernandez along with Ragan Smith, Emily Gaskins, and Sydney Johnson-Scharpf will be competing in their first meet as seniors and will be looking to break into USA’s already strong senior ranks. Three of the four juniors competing, Jordan Chiles, Emma Malabyo, and Gabby Perea are all coming off of successful performances at the International Gymnix. Fourth junior Trinity Thomas will be competing in her first international meet.
