Norah Flatley announced she will longer compete in 2016 due to a broken foot that has not healed in time to allow her to train. She is the third gymnast in the past two days who has announced the end of their season via social media- first being Jazmyn Foberg then Bailie Key. All three were standout junior gymnasts whose injuries have prevented them from pursuing their 2016 Olympic dreams.
Flatley was not originally on the roster for P&G Championships, but there was no public announcement about her status until today. See what she posted on Instagram below:
Flatley has not competed since the 2015 Jesolo Trophy, missing last year's P&G Championships due to the stress fracture in her foot flaring up. It seems as though that injury has continued to hold her back as she cited breaking the same foot twice in the past year and a half.
A strong all-around gymnast, Flatley is especially known for her beam work, a weaker area for team USA this year. Flatley turned 16 in March of this year and has not competed in a senior elite meet yet.
On the bright side, Flatley ended her message saying she will be returning for a big year in 2017 and we can't wait to see her then!
