Thoughts and Exciting News

Here we are in the last week of May and things have really slowed down in the gymnastics world.

When I returned home from JO Nationals, the final meet of the season, I finally got to catch up on some much needed rest then had a chance to sit back and reflect on our coverage this season. As you know, we covered meets just about every weekend from January through May. We really increased the coverage from last year and were able to cover tons of meets at all levels in various locations. The season flew by. I knew we had done a lot, but once I sat down and actually tallied up some numbers I was blown away by the amount of gymnastics we were able to cover this season with just a few people. Check this out....

For the 2010 season alone we covered:

74 total gymnastics meets

48 college gymnastics meets

And about 6,100 new gymnastics videos were uploaded to gymnastike during the 2010 season (January to May).

And this was just our second gymnastics season to cover! How were we able to cover so much? There were a few key members of the gymnastics community who stepped up to make all of this coverage a reality and I want to thank them for their time and their passion. Our current contributors are:

Amy Kleefisch

Jason MacDonald

David Pendrys

Kyle Khou

Loganne Fell

Rodney Smith

Stephen Garcia

I also want to thank our sponsors. I'm excited to share that Cirque du Soleil has recently joined on as a gymnastike sponsor. They are always looking for talented gymnasts to perform in their 21 shows around the world. Click here to check out their page and learn more about continuing gymnastics as a performer in Cirque.

If you are looking for a gymnastics camp to attend this summer, you should look into the Penn State Girls Gymnastics Camp, the UCLA/Nastia Liukin Gymnastics camp, and/or the Sooner Gymnastics Camp. They're supporting us here at gymnastike and they're also putting on great summer camps. Some of my favorite memories from my gymnastics career were from the few camps that I got to attend. Check out our camps page for more info.

In just a couple of months we'll be celebrating our 2 year anniversary and soon we'll be deep into the always exciting elite summer season. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and kept gymnastike going. It has truly been a group effort. I am really proud of where gymnastike is but I also believe there is a lot more to look forward to in the future.
