BREAKING: Bridget Sloan Out of Olympic Trials
Shortly before the women's competition was scheduled to begin on Friday, USA Gymnastics announced via Twitter that 2008 Olympian Bridget Sloan had scratched from the competition.

USAG then confirmed that Sloan had suffered an elbow injury, quoting team doctor Larry Nassar.

"Bridget has an elbow sprain and it had been determined that it is in Bridget's best interest to withdraw from the competition."-Dr. Nassar.

Sloan was showing signs of pain while warming up uneven bars before the competition.

"This is not the way we planned to finish up but she has had a wonderful career and I am very proud of her," said Marvin Sharp, Sloan's coach.

Sloan plans to continue her gymnastics career in the NCAA, joining the Florida Gators next season.
