COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Top performances throughout April earned gymnast Paul Ruggeri (Manlius, N.Y.) Athlete of the Month recognition, the United States Olympic Committee announced today. 

 

Ruggeri shined for Team USA as he won two gold medals at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) World Cup, held April 27-28 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. With a score of 14.912, Ruggeri took home the vault gold medal and posted a 14.975 to tie for first place and claim the high bar title. Capping off his impressive performance, Ruggeri finished seventh on floor. 

 

Each National Governing Body may nominate one female, one male and one team per discipline. A voting panel selects the winners from the pool of nominees with online fan voting via Twitter accounting for 10 percent of the total vote.
