Canada Names 2013 Women's World Team

Gymnastics Canada has named the women's team for the 2013 World Championships in Antwerp.

Slated to represent Canada on the women's side are:

Victoria Moors

2012 Olympian; 3rd all around at 2013 AT&T American Cup; Silver medalist on floor at 2013 Pan American Games.

Ellie Black

2012 Olympic Vault Finalist; Vault, Beam, and Floor Champion at 2013 Ljubljana World Cup; Vault and Floor Champion at 2012 Osijek World Cup

Kaitlyn Hofland
2013 Pan American Games Uneven Bars Champion; 2013 Canadian National Champion on Uneven Bars; Bronze medalist on beam at 2012 Glasgow World Cup.

Maegan Chant

2013 AT&T American Cup competitor; 2013 Cottubs World Cup Floor Champion; 2013 Canadian National Champion on Vault

Canada is coming off the nation's most successful Olympic apperance with the women's team qualifying to their very first Team Final. Black and Moors helped the Canadians to a historic fifth place finish in the finals.

Fan favorite Victoria Moors has continued her international success in 2013 by taking 3rd all around behind Americans Katleyn Ohashi and Simone Biles at the 2013 AT&T American Cup in March. Since then, Moors has successfully competed an incredibly difficult double twisting double layout on floor exercise, a skill only two female gymnasts in the world are currently competing. The other gymnast is, of course, Mykayla Skinner of Team USA and Desert Lights Gymnastics. Both gymnasts are hoping to have the skill named for them at the upcoming World Championships. Skinner, however, still has to proove technique and consistency in order to earn a place on the U.S. World Team.
