Illinois Scores Season High in Tri-Meet Versus Ohio State and Central Michigan
On Sunday, Feb. 23, the final day of Illinois's double meet weekend, the Fighting Illini defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Ohio State Buckeyes 196.775-196.425-195.525.
The Illini and the Buckeyes both posted their season highs at this meet.

After setting a new school high for vault on Friday, Feb. 21, the Illini failed to score above a 49 on the event. Central Michigan and Ohio State also failed to score above 49 as they began the meet on bars and floor respectively.
The second rotation was highlighted by the Illinois bars lineup as four of the Illini stuck their dismounts. Central Michigan went to the beam where Emily Heinz suffered a fall. The Chippewas recovered as Taylor Noonan scored a 9.900. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes vaulted to score a solid 48.800. After this rotation, Illinois moved into the lead with a 98.200.

In the third rotation, the Illini continued to their best event, the balance beam, where four more stuck dismounts occurred. Illinois scored a season high 49.300 to maintain their lead.
Central Michigan pumped up their numerous fans who made the trip to Champaign by performing on floor exercise. The Chippewas put on a show to score 49.275 highlighted by Halle Morraw's 9.900. On bars, the Buckeyes posted a meet low of 48.800.
Coming into the final rotation, the Illini led the Chippewas and Buckeyes 147.500-147.200-146.825. Though Illinois only had a .300 lead over Central Michigan, the Illini hit five of their six floor routines to score a 49.275 to match the Chippewas' floor score. No score below a 9.800 was counted for the Illini. Amber See anchored the Illini with a massive 9.950. Despite Central Michigan's 49.225 vault total, it was not enough to overtake the Illini.
