Six Must-See Routines from This Weekend
Our Gymnastike team was on site at the prestigious AT&T American Cup this weekend and there was so much incredible gymnastics going on we wanted to sift through it for you. Besides amazing elite gymnasts, the country’s best level 10 gymnasts were in Greensboro, NC as well competing in the Nastia Cup. Here are six of the best routines from this weekend that you need to watch right now!
#6- Vanessa Ferrari's Electric Floor Routine
Ferrari won floor with this exquisite routine full of big tumbling and stylish dance. Her routine is the same one she used last season but she has added vocals to her music, which match her dramatic style perfectly. She opens with a big tuck double double and follows that with a tuck full in straight to a back tuck. Also look for “the Ferrari,” a tour jete half in a split ring position. Watch her winning floor routine here.
#5- Rachel Baumann’s Gorgeous Beam Routine
Baumann performs a unique side aerial to layout step out series flawlessly and has the classic WOGA look which is beautiful to watch. Rachel hopes to follow in her sister Alyssa Baumann’s footsteps and compete elite (watch that interview here). Watch her first place beam from Nastia Cup below.
#4- McKenna Kelley’s Powerful Floor Routine
Kelley is a powerful and dynamic gymnast, just like her mom Mary Lou Retton. She has an incredible array of skills and while she has mastered her tuck full in on floor, which she has competed this season, she chose to open her routine with a huge double layout. Watch the floor routine that propelled her to first all-around at the Nastia Cup here.
#3- Elizabeth Price’s Huge Amanar
Price’s vault was by far the best women’s vault of the night and it received the highest score on any event. She gets incredible height of the table twists flawlessly through the air. She took two small steps on her landing but when she is able to stick it, she will be hard to beat! Watch the impressive vault here.
#2- Victoria Moors’ Breathtaking Floor Routine
All eyes were on Moors this weekend when she performed her jam packed floor routine complete with new music and dance. She opened with her incredible laid out double double which she had named after her when she nailed it at last year’s World Championships. Watch this amazing routine here.
#1- Brenna Dowell’s Incredible New Bar Routine
Dowell has added a new combination into her already amazing bar routine and she now does a Tweddle into an Ezhova (toe on straddle Tkatchev with a half turn to a straddle back with a half turn). Dowell nailed this combination beautifully in competition. Watch her soar effortlessly through her routine below.
