Juniors Event Finals

At the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships juniors event finals USA put up a solid performance and walked away with 12 medals. The top eight gymnasts from each event qualified to compete in tonight's finals and both men and women competed together. However, there was a limit of two gymnasts per country for each event.

On the women's side, Bailie Key competed all four events and won gold on vault and floor and silver on bars and beam. She had an oustanding competition and totalled four gold medals and two silver throughout her two days of competition at the Pac Rims.

Norah Flatley competed bars and beam and while she had a little trouble on her bar routine, she pulled through and finished with a 14.1, which put her in fourth place, just two tenths out of reach of a medal.

Nia Dennis won silver on vault for a sky high double twisting yurchenko. Dennis also competed on floor but had an uncharacteristic mistake and fell on her second pass of arabian double front.

Huan Luo of China took the bars gold medal with a beautfiul routine full of China's signature pirouetting and flawless form.

All three junior men from USA also competed. Alec Yoder took home gold on pommel and bronze on rings. Marty Strech received silver on vault and bronze on floor. Davis Grooms took the silver on pommel and bronze on parallel bars. All three were very excited and pleased with their performances and were looking forward to enjoying their last few days in Canada.
