Is Simone Biles ready for the Secret US Classic? 

 

Reigning World Champion and Senior National Team member, Simone Biles is set to compete at this weekend’s Secret Classic. The big question coming with Simone this weekend: Is she ready to compete?
 

Recent History:

Back in March Simone followed longtime coach Aimee Boorman as they left Bannon's Gymnastix in Spring, Texas. The duo found a new home at AIM Athletics since then, but both are representing their own company, World Champions Centre.  Simone has 7 teammates training with her at AIM, which has helped her feel more at home when training. Simone’s parents decided to build a gym back in 2013 and both Simone and her coach Aimee are looking forward to the progress of their own facility. Earlier this year Simone suffered a shoulder injury that set her back and required extensive physical therapy. This injury kept her out of AT&T American Cup in March.

Simone was then selected to the 2014 Pac Rim team where she traveled to Richmond, Canada. During podium training Simone withdrew from competition due to trouble during podium training on bars from her previous shoulder injury.  (Read the full article here). Simone also had a small surgery back in October on her right ankle. This surgery was to remove a small bone spur from the bottom of her ankle. (Read the full article here.) With these injuries Simone has not competed since World Championships 2013. 

 

Update: 

Gymnastike recently spoke with Simone's coach Aimee Boorman who said that Simone is ready for the Secret US Classic. Aimee said that Simone’s preparation is progressing well- her fitness level is excellent and her routines are exactly where they want them to be at this point in the season. Simone is planning to compete AA at Classic and her goals are to show a strong fitness level and good execution heading into the P&G Championships.
