Recap: Men's Event Finals Day 1- FX, PH, SR
The 2014 World Championships in Nanning, China continued today with day one of event finals. The men competed on floor, pommel, and rings and tomorrow they will compete on vault, parallel bars, and high bar.
Floor
Up first on floor was Rayderley Miguel Zapata Santana of Spain. He had solid tumbling including a layout double double but he under rotated and sat down his third pass of a double front. He scored a 13.9.
Ryohei Kato of Japan was next and performed beautiful twisting passes but had a little trouble on his landings. His routine included a 3 1/2 to punch front half, back 1 1/2 to front 2 1/2, a back 2 1/2 to front double twist, and a triple twist. 15.466
Up third was Denis Abliazin of Russia and he also had trouble sticking his landings and took a hop on every pass. He performed an excellent layout double double, and an incredible front double full to double front. He scored a big 15.75 to move into first.
Eleftherios Kosmidis of Greece was next and scored a 15.05 after some low landings. He opened with a front double full to rudi and also performed a tuck double double.
Next was Hansol Kim of Korea who opened with a great, stuck tuck double double and finished with a whip to triple. He had great form and much more precise landings than the previous competitors. He finished with a 15.5, which placed him in second at the time.
Diego Hypolito of Brazil followed with outstanding tumbling and stuck landings. The highlight of his routine was an incredible piked Arabian double front to front tuck full. He also performed a tucked Arabian double front to a front layout and a triple full. He earned a 15.7 which moved him to second at the time, just 0.05 behind Abliazin.
Defending World floor champion Kenzo Shirai of Japan impressed with his incredible twisting passes. He had a little trouble on his back 2 1/2 to front 2 1/2 and he stepped to the side and out of bounds. However, the rest of his routine was excellent including his closing pass of a quadruple twist. He earned a 15.733 and moved past Hypolito but it wasn’t enough to give him gold.
Jake Dalton of USA was last up on floor. He opened with a layout Arabian double front, also executed a whip to piked Arabian double front, and finished with a stuck triple full. He earned a 15.6, which put him in fourth, just missing out on a podium spot.

Pommel Horse
Daniel Keatings of Great Britain was up first with a hit routine for a 15.133. He had some form issues but didn’t have any break in his routine.
Next up was Alex Naddour of USA who executed a superb routine with great movement and form. After sticking his dismount he broke into a big smile and gave a fist pump. He scored a 15.3.
Third up was Cyril Tommasone from France. He had a couple hesitations during his routine where he had to muscle some skills but was solid overall and scored a 15.6.
Filip Ude of Croatia performed an outstanding routine with a stuck dismount for a 15.783. He had very clean form and great movement throughout the routine. He was in first after his routine.
Andrey Likhovitskiy of Belarus was next with a clean set for a 15.2.
Robert Seligman from Croatia scored a 15.4 for a solid routine with a great execution score. He had beautiful straight body form and good traveling on the horse.
Olympic Champion Krisztian Berki of Hungary was next and executed an outstanding routine. He had incredible leg and hip extension, fluid movement, and an impressive pirouetting dismount to score a huge 16.033 and move into first place.
Saso Bertoncelj of Slovenia was last and hit a solid set for a 15.533, placing fourth and just missing out on a medal.

Rings
Samir Ait Said of France started the rings rotation with a hit routine and a stuck dismount. His routine included a Maltese, press up to inverted cross, and a full twisting double layout for a 15.566.
Up second was Liu Yang of China who performed an amazing routine for a big 15.933. He executed beautiful skills including a roll to Maltese, hang to an inverted cross, and a stuck full twisting double layout dismount.
Defending World and Olympic Champion Arthur Zanetti of Brazil was up third with an incredible routine. He performed an impressive first sequence of a roll to planche to lever back up to Maltese. He had two iron crosses with a stylized head lift in both. He finished with a full twisting double layout and earned a 15.733.
Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece followed with hit routine with minor errors. He executed a Van Gelder, Maltese, and a planche to an iron cross. He scored a 15.4.
Second Chinese gymnast You Hao was up fifth and nailed his routine. He opened with an impressive straight arm pull up to Maltese and finished with an incredible stuck layout double double. He originally scored a 15.6 but after an inquiry his difficulty score was raised to a 7.0 and his score bumped up to a 15.7.
Courtney Tullock of Great Britain was next. He opened with a unique circle to Rodriguez displaying incredible strength and continued with solid holds to earn a 15.4.
Seventh up was Denis Abliazin of Russia who hit with a solid routine with exquisite form. His routine included a roll to Maltese, lever press up to Maltese, and a nearly stuck layout double double dismount. He scored a 15.7 to tie with You.
Nikita Ignatyev of Russia was the final gymnast of the event. He opened with a Van Gelder, continued to an iron cross, and finished with a layout double double dismount with a hop forward. He earned a 15.266.
