Friday Focus Visits the Tigers: Senior Rheagan Courville

Formerly coached by LSU National Champion Susan Jackson, Rheagan Courville has made a name of her own in the elite world of gymnastics and at Louisiana State University. In the duration of her club career, Courville was a senior international elite gymnast, three-time qualifier to the Visa Championships, and secured a spot on the 2007 Junior National Team. Throughout her three seasons as a Tiger, Courville has etched her name among the greats. As a sophomore, she won the NCAA Vault National Title with a 9.9250, becoming the sixth gymnast in LSU history to win an individual national title in event finals, and the third gymnast to win vault. As a junior in 2014, Rheagan defended her national title on vault with a 9.9750, the highest score to ever win the event in NCAA history. As a result of the colossal success she exhibited in the season of 2014, Courville earned eight All-america honors- five during the regular season, and three first-team honors for her performance at the Championships.

Rheagan Courville is not only one of LSU’s greatest gymnasts, but one of the best athletes to compete in the sport. Her collegiate accomplishments include: two-time reigning NCAA vault champion, school-record 16 time All-American, three-time SEC champion, three-time All-SEC performer, two-time Central Region Gymnast of the Year, 2013 SEC Gymnast of the Year.

Courville is now in her Senior year as a Tiger, and will undoubtedly lead her teammates through a successful 2015 season. Her sight is set on ending her gymnastics career by bringing a National Championship trophy to Baton Rouge.
