Vote to Name the 2016 Olympic Mascots
As the hype for the 2016 Rio Olympics continues to build, the preparations continue as well and the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games mascots have been released. While the characters have stories and backgrounds, they still don’t have names and you can vote for their names here.
The Olympic mascot is a mix of different Brazilian animals and contains their characteristics including the agility of cats, sway of monkeys, and grace of birds. His strongest power is the ability to stretch his arms and legs as far as he likes. He plays all of the Olympic sports and you can see him doing a one-arm handstand below.
The Paralympic mascot is a fusion of Brazils diverse plant life. His hair is made of tropical foliage and he is growing and transforming nonstop, just like plants are always growing towards the sun. He is always active and practices all of the Paralympic sports, but his strongest asset is his mind and his ability to problem solve.
The mascots are best friends and you can read more about the pair here.
You can also take part in the naming process and vote for the mascots’ names here. The choices are 1. Oba and Eba, 2. Tiba Tuque and Esquindim, or 3. Vinicius and Tom. What do you think they should be named? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
