Bridget Sloan Out Six Weeks With Severe Sprain

Florida's Bridget Sloan will be out for six weeks with a severe sprain on her right ankle. Gator head coach Rhonda Faehn tweeted the following:

Sloan injured her right ankle this weekend at Florida's season opener at Ball State. Sloan competed vault earlier in the meet where she scored her career high and the 2015 season's first perfect 10.0. In the third rotation of the meet, the Gators moved to floor. Sloan had a clean routine and finished with a double pike for her third pass. She landed the double pike but immediately hopped onto her left foot while holding up the right. She was clearly in pain and didn't finish her choreography. A trainer helped her off the floor and she was unable to compete in the final event of beam.

Sloan was named the SEC Specialist of the week due to her performance this weekend highlighted by her 10 on vault.

In Florida’s All Sports Press Conference on Monday, Faehn gave a recap on Sunday’s meet including injury updates. The meet was filled with highs and lows (read our recap here) and Faehn also announced that Florida senior Jamie Shisler tore her achilles during warm up at the meet.
