Katelyn Ohashi Commits To UCLA
WOGA gymnast and former international elite Katelyn Ohashi has committed to UCLA. Ohashi joins the UCLA signing class of Simone Biles, Madison Kocian, and Macy Toronjo. Biles and Kocian will likely defer but Ohashi and Toronjo are expected to join the Bruins this fall.
Ohashi made her competition debut this past weekend at the Texas Prime after nearly two years out of competition. Watch her beam routine from Texas Prime below.
Ohashi was a rising star on the elite scene but after winning the 2013 AT&T American Cup, she suffered serious back and shoulder injuries. Ohashi told us doctors said she probably wouldn't be able to return to gymnastics. However, with sheer determination and hard work, along with help from her coaches Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi, Ohashi returned to gymnastics and made her long time dream come true- committing to UCLA. Watch an interview with Ohashi where she talks about hitting 'rock bottom' but having support from her coaches to push through here.
I owe it all to this one! For bringing back the light in my eyes and gymnastics and giving me these opportunitiesâ¤ï¸Â pic.twitter.com/ARA6IB7iXV
