Bridget Sloan Injury Update

University of Florida gives an update on star junior gymnast Bridget Sloan's injury. Sloan injured her right ankle in the first meet of the season at Ball State on Jan. 11 and was given a recovery time of at least six weeks. It has now been just over four weeks and Sloan is poised to return to competition soon.

Gator Vision released a video featuring Sloan and head coach Rhonda Faehn about Sloan's recovery process as well as her new role on the team. Sloan has always been a positive force on the team whether it's through competing or cheering on her teammates.

"I'm definitely not one who likes to sit on the sidelines. I'm not one who enjoys sitting out, I mean I don't think any athlete really enjoys not playing their sport or not doing their sport and competing... But it was also something that I knew there was nothing I could do so I could either be a great cheerleader or just sit there and not do anything."

Sloan got cleared last week to get out of her ankle boot and has been cleared to train bars again. When asked if she will be back in the lineup, Sloan said, "Oh for sure. 100% I will definitely be back- minimum of two events. I mean I have every expectation to be back on all four by NCAA's."

Coach Faehn said that they are "Very hopeful that we have her on at least two if not three or four. I have great faith that she is going to be able to come back."
