No.6 Alabama Faces No.24 Missouri in Pink Out Meet

The Missouri Tigers are to host the Alabama Crimson Tide in their first ever Pink Out meet on Friday March 5.

Both the Crimson Tide and the Missouri Tigers are looking to bounce back from last week’s losses. Alabama fell to No.2 LSU in a close battle that came down to the last event.  After losing freshman Shauna Miller to injury earlier in the week, the Tigers struggled against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

On the vault, Alabama’s Kayla Williams is currently ranked No.20 with an RQS of 9.895. Last week, both Lauren Beers and Kaitlyn Clark posted 9.9’s.  Missouri’s Laura Kappler continues to excel on this event, scoring a 9.8 or above for six meets in a row.

Alabama sophomore, Amanda Jetter, won the bars against LSU with a 9.9. For the Tigers, senior Becca Johnson and junior Miranda Eubank top the scores.

Kappler is consistently a strong asset to the Tiger’s beam lineup. Last weekend, she tied with teammate Kelli Martin for second, scoring a 9.8.  Against LSU, four Alabama gymnasts, Keely McNeer, Nickie Guerrero, Lauren Beers and Kaitlyn Clark, all tied for second with 9.85’s.

Over on the floor, expect big things from Alabama’s Carley Sims.  She is currently tied for 16th in the country with an RQS of 9.895. Freshman Kennedi Harris and Becca Schugel led the Tigers on floor with the two highest scores in the lineup against the Razorbacks.

With only a few more weeks of regular season, the teams are looking to perfect their lineups as they prepare for postseason.

Competition begins at 6:30 p.m. at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo.
