Event Champions Crowned At 2015 NCAA Championships
The 2015 NCAA Championships concluded today and the event champions were named. Elizabeth Price of Stanford won vault, Georgia Dabritz of Utah won bars, Samantha Peszek of UCLA won beam, and Kytra Hunter of Florida won floor.
VAULT
Kari Lee of Utah kicked off the vault lineup with a beautiful Yurchenko full with a small hop back on the landing. She scored a 9.875.
Myia Hambrick from LSU was next with a big Yurchenko full but two steps back on the landing for a 9.8167.
Bridget Sloan of Florida was next on vault where she had a solid vault, gorgeous form in the air with a tiny hop back for a 9.925.
Kayla Williams from Alabama vaulted her Yurchenko 1 1/2 with great form in the air and just a small step back on the landing for a 9.8917.
Elizabeth Price from Stanford executed her sky high Yurchenko full with a tiny hop back for a well deserved 9.933
Ali Jackson of OU performed a solid Yurchenko 1 1/2 with a small hop on the landing for a 9.8583.
Haley Scaman from OU was next on vault where she hit a solid Yurchenko full with a small slide back on the landing for a 9.8917.
Brandie Jay of Georgia wrapped up the vault rotation with a solid Yurchenko 1 1/2 but a step forward for a 9.85.
BARS
Brenna Dowell from Oklahoma was up first on bars where she rocked her routine, hitting every single handstand without a question. Her deductions came on her dismount where she had a hop back and another tiny hop forward to score a 9.85.
Katie Bailey of Alabama was next where she hit a gorgeous routine with a big straddle Jaeger. She stuck her tuck full out dismount to loud cheers from the crowd and earned a 9.9.
Erika Aufiero of Oregon State hit her routine next with a big Tkatchev and beautiful double layout dismount for a 9.825.
Keeley Kmieciak of OU went next on bars with a gorgeous routine topped off with a stuck full in dismount for a 9.9.
Elizabeth Price from Stanford was next where she impressed with incredibly difficult connections and nearly perfect form. She ended with a beautiful double layout and a hop forward for a 9.9.
Brittany Rogers of Georgia started with gorgeous stalder work and a Ricna. She nailed the rest of her routine, sticking her double layout for a 9.95 to take the lead.
Rheagan Courville of LSU performed a beautiful routine, swinging through her skills effortlessly with legs glued together. She hit her full in dismount and scored a 9.9.
Georgia Dabritz was next on bars where she was nearly perfect until a small foot slide on her dismount to score a 9.9625.
Shae Zamardi of LSU was next and started with a floaty Shaposhinkova, continued with a Khorkina, and finished with an Arabian double front dismount for a 9.862
Sloan performed on bars next with a gorgeous routine with beautiful form. She nailed her double layout dismount and scored a 9.95.
Randii Wyrick of LSU went next and missed a giant full to take a fall. She finished strong but only scored a 9.2875.
McKenzie Wofford of OU finished the bars rotation with an exquisite routine with nearly perfect form to score a 9.925.
BEAM
Chayse Capps of Oklahoma started the beam rotation where beautiful artistry was on full display. She was solid and hit every skill including her back handspring layout step out to beat jump series. She ended with a stuck gainer full and earned a 9.912.
Kayla Williams of Alabama was next where she was looking for redemption after last night’s fall. She looked confident but was crooked on her punch front and fell.
Talia Chiarelli was third with a great routine to score a 9.825.
Alex McMurtry of Florida followed with a clean routine until the dismount where she had a large step back on her 2 1/2 to score a 9.825.
Madeline Gardiner of Oregon State had a beautiful, artistic routine including a front aerial and side sumi. She finished with a stuck gainer full for a 9.925.
Nicole Artz of Michigan was next on beam where she had to break a connection but hit the rest of her routine for a 9.8125.
Jessie Jordan of LSU performed next on beam where she displayed her usual calm and confident demeanor but had a couple balance checks and was a little short on her 1 1/2 dismount to score a 9.825.
Kytra Hunter was next on beam where she displayed a powerful beam routine topped off with a big double tuck dismount. She had tiny balance checks and a hop back on her dismount and scored a 9.875.
Ivana Hong from Stanford was next where she performed an incredibly beautiful and artistic routine. She executed an Onodi to back handspring, a back handspring layout step out series, and a stuck gainer pike off the end of the beam. She scored a 9.9375.
Samantha Peszek of UCLA finished up an amazing career with a big beam routine starting with her standing tuck full and ending with her back handspring layout step out to back full dismount. She earned a 9.95 to push her into first.
Caitlin Atkinson of Auburn hit a solid routine to finish up her weekend for a 9.825.
Rebecca Clark from OU followed with a gorgeous routine finishing with a stuck 1 1/2 to score a 9.875.
Keeley Kmieciak of OU finished with a beautiful beam set to score a 9.8625.
FLOOR
Taylor Rice of Stanford opened on floor with a fun and energetic routine. She had a couple of rough landings and scored a 9.763.
Peszek was second with an exciting floor routine and powerful tumbling. She opened with a big double layout and scored a 9.8875.
Sachi Sugiyama for Michigan was next where she performed a very clean routine with big tumbling for a 9.9.
Bridgette Caquatto of Florida followed with her energetic floor routine. She had great tumbling until her last pass where it looked like she ran out of steam and fell on her double pike to score a 9.3375.
Ashleigh Gnat of LSU opened with a big double layout and continued with a 2 1/2 to punch front but stepped back on the landing. She finished with a big double pike to score a 9.9125.
Dabritz followed with a beautiful routine and great amplitude on tumbling starting with her piked full in. She earned a 9.9125 to tie for Gnat for the lead at the time.
Kytra Hunter of Florida performed next with her incredible sky high tumbling. She opened with a huge double layout and continued with a back 1 1/2 to front layout to front pike. She finished with her solid open double tuck and roars from the crowd. She earned a well deserved 9.9625.
Hollie Blanske of Nebraska was next. She opened with a double layout and continued with a front lay to front rudi to a big double stag jump. She scored a 9.85.
Talia Chiarelli of Michigan had a solid floor routine with some big tumbling for a 9.9.
Nina McGee of Denver performed her crowd pleasing floor routine next. She had explosive tumbling starting with her huge double layout and exciting dance that she showed off. She finished with a stuck double pike to huge cheers and a standing ovation from the audience. She scored a 9.95.
Kennedy Baker of Florida impressed with big tumbling starting with her piked Arabian double front. She stepped out of bounds on her double pike and ended with a 9.775.
Kari Lee of Utah performed next on floor where she had a great routine until her third pass where she stumbled out of bounds on her double tuck to finish with a 9.6125.
Haley Scaman of OU drew in the crowd with expressive dance and big tumbling. She opened with her floaty double layout and finished strong for a 9.9375
Brenna Dowell of OU got redemption on floor after minor mistakes last night. She nailed every tumbling pass starting with her double front to stag jump and scored a 9.95.
Mary Beth Box of Georgia hit a solid floor routine to wrap up the meet and earned a 9.8875.
