With the 2015 JO National Championship right around the corner, let’s take a look at last year’s winners. The junior winners from last year include four very talented gymnasts that have had a very successful year. Two of the winners will now compete as seniors this season. 

 

Junior A Winner

Delanie Harkness was the junior A JO National Champion from region 5. Harkness trains at Gedderts’ Twistars under John Geddert. At last year’s Nationals, Harkness scored a 9.425 on vault, 9.675 on bars, 9.525 on beam, 9.775 on floor, and 38.400 all-around. Along with winning the all-around, she also won bars and floor.

In 2014, Harkness then went on to compete as a junior international elite gymnast. Harkness qualified to both the US Secret Classic and the P&G Championships. At the Secret Classic, Harkness finished an impressive 9th on bars with a score of 13.75 and an all-around score of 52.80. Harkness showed improvement at the P&G Championships with a 53.00 all-around. She had a meet high of 13.40 on bars during prelims while posting a 51.40 during all-around finals. Harkenss did not compete JO this year and is focusing on elite. She has been attending development camps at the ranch and plans to compete at this years American Classic. Watch her new 2015 floor routine here

Rachael Lukacs was the junior B JO National Champion from region 7. Lukacs trains at North Stars under Tony Gehman and Ashley Umberger. At last year’s nationals Lukacs scored a 9.875 on vault, 9.425 on bars, 9.525 on beam, 9.50 on floor and 38.325 all-around. Lukacs placed first on both vault and all-around.

In 2015, Lukacs qualified to the Nastia Liukin Cup placing 4th on floor, 5th on beam, 6th vault and all-around. Lukacs qualified to this year's Nationals after scoring a 38.825 at Regionals. Lukacs has committed to the University of Georgia for the fall of 2018. Watch her huge DTY here. 

  

Junior C Winner

The JO National Champion for the junior C division out of region 1 was Kennedi Edney. Edney trains at Precision with coaches Trent and Jill Spaulding. Edney was impressive on vault scoring a 9.90, bars 9.55, beam 9.60, floor 9.75 and 38.80 all-around.

Edney has moved to the senior division this year and will compete at JO Nationals. Edney recently scored a perfect 10 on vault at the 2015 Region 1 Regional Championships. Edney was also impressive at regionals with a 9.80 on bars and 9.675 on beam. Edney has committed to LSU for the fall of 2016.

Junior D Winner

Grace Glenn from region 8 was the 2014 junior D JO National Champion. Glenn is from Southeastern where she is coached by Ludmilla Shobe, Galina Meliakina and Georgiy "Egor" Grebenkov. To win last year, Glenn posted scores of 9.825 on vault, 9.45 on bars, 9.775 on beam, 9.625 on floor and 38.675 all-around. Along with winning the all-around Glenn placed first on beam. Unfortunatley, Glenn missed the 2015 season due to injury. Glenn has committed to UCLA along with her twin sister Anna Glenn for the fall of 2016.
