Georgia Dabritz On Career Highlights And Coaching Transition
We spoke with Georgia Dabritz while she was coaching at Utah's High Performance summer camp. She told us a bit about her coaching experience and growing up as a gym owner's daughter. Below, Dabritz reflects on a glittering career at Utah filled with both team and individual success...
How do you feel about last season and it ending the way it did at NCAAs?
“It was a lot of fun. That weekend was really special for me, not just because it was my last time, but because we had a great weekend all around. Especially with Tori going down two weeks earlier, it was a big change for us in our lineups. So it wasn’t what we had all year, but so many girls stepped up and I was really proud of how they handled it. You know, it’s a lot of pressure there, but we did everything we could and we left it all out there. And especially myself, being my last time out there I was really pleased with it.”
You came out with one last bars title…What was the bars final like for you?
“It was definitely a bittersweet moment. I was super excited to be back out on bars again. Last year I didn’t make bar finals but I did two years ago, so I was excited to be back on bar finals because it’s my favorite event. I just kind of wanted to go out there one more time and have fun because I knew it was my last time. We have so many fans that come and I just wanted to put on a good show for them.”
What’s next for you?
“For this year, I will be here in Utah working with the team as a student coach because I have one more year of school. And then after that, we’ll see where it takes me.”
