Meet Team Canada: Victoria Woo
The 2015 Pan American Games are beginning this weekend in Toronto, Ontario. This week, we have been introducing you to each member of the Canadian team, including Elsabeth Black, Madison Copiak, Maegan Chant, Isabela Onyshko, and Victoria Woo. Today, we continue with Victoria Woo.
Woo trains at Gym-Richelieu in Beauharnois, Quebec under the direction of Michel Charron. She is one of the more seasoned competitors on Team Canada, with five years of elite experience. Woo came onto the senior scene in 2013 at Elite Canada, winning bars and taking seventh in the all-around. She went on to win the all-around and uneven bars titles at the International Gymnix later that year.
In 2014, Woo finished fifth all-around and sixth on beam at the Canadian National Championships, and gained a wealth of international experience through competing for Canada at the Commonwealth Games, Pan American Championships and World Championships. Woo took the all-around title at this year’s International Gymnix and helped Team Canada to a third-place finish in Jesolo. She also took fifth place at the 2015 Canadian National Championships. Woo looks forward to competing for Ohio State, as she has committed for the 2016-2017 season.
