Meet Team Canada: Madison Copiak

In this week leading up to Pan Ams, we've introduced the team that will represent Canada at the Games, including Elsabeth Black, Madison Copiak, Maegan Chant, Isabela Onyshko, and Victoria Woo.

The final member to meet is Madison Copiak, who trains at Calgary Gymnastics Centre in Alberta under the direction of coaches Janna Ball and David Kenwright. Copiak competed in her first Elite Canada in 2012 as a junior where she took 4th on bars. She has continued to improve over the years and was part of the 2014 Sr Pan Am Championships team, earning a 5th place finish with Team Canada. At this year’s Elite Canada, Copiak took 4th all-around, 5th on bars, and 7th on beam. She also came in 4th all-around at the 2015 Canadian National Championships, earning herself a spot on the Pan Ams team.

Copiak has been very consistent in her recent competitions, showing that she can stay calm and hit her routines under pressure. She is a taller gymnast and shows beautiful lines on bars and beam, but also has strong difficultly on the power events. She is currently training a double twisting Yurckenko on vault. After next season, Copiak will continue her gymnastics career in the States, as she has committed to Washington for 2016-2017.
