Juniors To Watch For At The 2015 Secret U.S. Classic
The 2015 Secret U.S. Classic will be held this weekend, July 25, in Chicago, Ill. The competition serves as the final tune-up and final qualification opportunity before the 2015 P&G Championships, USA’s national championships. The juniors roster is filled with 41 talented athletes but below we’ve picked out some of the gymnasts you can not miss.

The obvious front runners this weekend include the gymnasts on the national team. Below are the junior national team members who will be competing this weekend:

Jordan Chiles, Naydenov - Don’t miss her floor routine and her explosive and quick tumbling.
Norah Flatley, Chow’s - Don’t miss her gorgeous beam routine. UPDATE: Flatley has since withdrawn due to injury
Jazmyn Foberg, MG Elite - Watch for the reigning junior national champion on all four events.
Emily Gaskins, North Port Gymnastics - Her poise and style especially shows on beam and floor.
Laurie Hernandez, MG Elite - Do not miss out on her expressive and sassy floor routine.
Victoria Nguyen, Chow’s - Watch for her beautiful and difficult beam routine. UPDATE: Nguyen has since withdrawn due to injury
Ragan Smith, Texas Dreams - Don’t miss her spunky and powerful floor routine.

Besides this strong group of gymnasts, below are more talented athletes to watch for:

Chae Campbell - Metroplex
This is a year of firsts for Metroplex’s Campbell. This will be her first U.S. Classic competition and she is coming off of her first season as a level 10. In her very first level 10 meet, she scored a 38.575 to place first and qualifier her for the Nastia Liukin Cup. She placed first at States, second at Regionals, and third at her first JO Nationals. Campbell is a powerful gymnast and her skills look easy for her. While she may not have the highest difficulty as a first year elite, she will be sure to display some big and beautiful skills. Watch her 9.75 floor routine from the Metroplex Challenge here.

Christina Desiderio - Parkettes
Desiderio is a strong all-around gymnast from Parkettes. She is a powerful tumbler and has posted training videos working both the tuck double double and the Biles - double layout half out. At last year’s Secret Classic she placed eighth all-around. At this year’s American Classic, she came in sixth overall but posted the top scores on beam and floor with a 15.2 and 14.5 respectively. She earned a 6.1 difficulty score on beam and a 6.0 on floor.

Colbi Flory - Texas Dreams
Flory is a first year elite from Texas Dreams Gymnastics. She displays gorgeous, eye catching gymnastics and her technique and form is nearly flawless. She has a very sharp and stylish look that shows maturity beyond her years. She won the American Classic earlier this season with a 56.7, boasting a 14.45 on balance beam. She posted very strong execution scores, the lowest being an 8.8. Make sure to watch for her beautiful beam routine. Watch videos of Flory including all four events from the 2015 WOGA Classic here.

Morgan Hurd - First State
Hurd will be competing in her second U.S. Classic. This year she has competed in multiple elite qualifiers including the WOGA Classic where she tied for first on beam with a 14.15. At the American Classic, she tied for third with a 56.5 all-around. Her high score came on bars with a 14.65 and a 5.6 difficulty score. She has a beautiful style and displays her signature flexibility throughout her routines. She’s also an incredibly clean gymnast, especially on bars with her legs glued together and her toes neatly pointed. Watch Hurd’s beam form the 2015 WOGA Classic here.

Emma Malabuyo - Texas Dreams
Malabuyo is another first year elite from Texas Dreams Gymnastics. She has some big tricks up her sleeve and even with her small frame, she is able to get big amplitude to make her skills pop. At this year’s American Classic, she tied for third with a 56.5. She scored a 14.35 on both beam and floor. Make sure to watch for her packed beam routine that includes a standing Arabian. Watch videos of Malabuyo here.

Abby Paulson - Twin City Twisters
Paulson is a gymnast from Twin City Twisters where she trains with elite teammates and national team members Maggie Nichols and Olivia Trautman. This will be her fourth U.S. Classic and third as a junior. She placed 10th all-around at last year’s P&G Championships with a 54.95 on the first day and a 55.05 on the second. With a couple years of experience on her resume, it will be exciting to see improvements and upgrades this season.

Gabby Perea - Legacy Elite
Perea trains at Legacy Elite under coaches Jiani Wu and Yuejiu Li. She didn’t compete in all-around at last year’s U.S. Classic due to a hamstring injury but has returned this year looking stronger than ever. Perea performs a beautiful triple full on floor as well as an impressive standing tuck full on beam. She is an energetic gymnast and performs skill-packed routines with ease. Watch for her in all-around but especially on beam.

Deanne Soza - Arete
Soza will be competing in her fourth U.S. Classic and she finished third all-around in 2014. She is a strong all-around gymnast but really shines on bars with her difficult routine including a Ray, a unique straddle back half, and a full twisting double layout dismount. Last fall, Soza suffered dangerous eye infections and missed four months of training. She returned to national team training camps in January and this will be her first major competition back.

Abigail Walker - Texas Dreams
Walker is the third new elite gymnast from Texas Dreams. This tiny gymnast may not yet have the same refinement or consistency as other juniors, but she displays tons of potential and natural talent. She opens with a bounding Arabian double front on floor and performs other high flying skills. It will be exciting to see her at her first U.S. Classic. Watch her on floor from the 2015 WOGA Classic here.

Note: the list above includes gymnasts who are listed on the Secret Classic website. Some gymnasts may have withdrawn from the competition but are still listed as of July 21.
