Ragan Smith "Pumped Up" And Ready To Compete
Ragan Smith is excited to get out on the competition floor and show her stuff. She will be debuting a new double layout on floor and looking to engage the crowd in a fun floor routine. Smith says she is a leader among the big group of Texas Dreams juniors. We caught up with her after podium training:
On training today:
“It went pretty well. Just getting used to the equipment this morning, and then this afternoon we are probably going to do full routines and stuff, but it went pretty well.”
On goals for tomorrow:
“Just to do my best and hit four for four, and show everybody what I got.”
On what she’s looking forward to about the competition:
“I’m just excited to get out there and compete. I love competing and it’s just so fun.”
On upgraded skills:
“I have my double layout on floor—my first pass and then I changed my double Arabian to my third pass. And then on beam, instead of a pike full because it’s not a skill, I changed it to a tuck full."
On her new floor routine:
“I’m really excited. That’s one event that I’m pumped up and ready to go for. I love the dance and I feel like I can play with the crowd and I just enjoy it. “
On having a big group from Texas Dreams:
“It’s pretty fun, I feel like I’m the leader of the group, especially after I’ve been here for a long time, so it’s pretty cool.”
On giving advice to the younger girls:
“I said just go out there and have fun. Pretend it’s like normal practice and just be normal. Don’t change anything.”
