MG Elite Dominates Podium At Secret Classic
Laurie Hernandez and Jazmyn Foberg, MG Elite’s junior superstars, both turned in phenomenal performances last weekend at the Secret U.S. Classic. They both shared a common goal of finishing in the top three, which was achieved- and more. They dominated the podium, earning a combined whopping nine medals.

Hernandez took the all-around title with a score of 58.450 and finished in the top three in every individual event. She earned gold on both vault and bars and bronze on beam and floor. She started on bars with a beautiful routine, including a stunning display of big releases and earning a 15.00- a score that would have earned her the bronze medal in the senior session.

She has a huge smile and huge gymnastics to match it. Her style is one that attracts the fans, as her bubbly personality is reflected in her gymnastics—most notably in her floor routine. She plays with the crowd through expressive choreography and has solid tumbling passes with great form. Hernandez excited a lovely double twisting Yurchenko on vault with just a small hop backwards to win her the title.

Jazmyn Foberg finished the meet with the third highest all-around score of 57.400. She said in a post-meet interview that she was so excited to stand on the podium with her best friend, Laurie. The highlight of Foberg’s competition was her remarkable beam set, where she performed with extraordinary confidence, capped off with a nearly stuck double back dismount. She scored an impressive 14.650 for the beam title.

Foberg has upgraded her floor tumbling immensely, performing incredibly difficult skills such as a full twisting double layout and a brand new tuck double double. She struggled on her landings a bit, but there is something to be said for her amazing level of difficulty.

Hernandez and Foberg were fun to watch beyond their outstanding routines—they have a bond that shows itself even on the competition floor. The girls were cheering each other on constantly and shared many photos, hugs, and laughs after the meet. The MG Elite duo is stronger than ever, with no signs of stopping.
