P&G Champs Redemption Routines: Coming Back With A Vengeance On Day Two
With two full days of competition for each gymnast, P&G Championships provides a great opportunity to show improvement over the course of the weekend. Several key competitors had significant mistakes on day one, and were able to come back on day two and find redemption. Both mental and physical strength were on display in a very impressive weekend of competition.

Aly Raisman - Beam
The first big notable mishap was Aly Raisman falling on her series on beam. She shared in a post-meet interview that she hasn't “hopped off” the beam in a meet like that in five years, but that she's human and it happens. She explained the difficulty of starting on beam with the extra adrenaline and nerves, but was quick to say that she will make no excuses for her mistake, After that wake up call and a pep talk from Bela, she got up on day two and nailed her routine, scoring a 14.95 after a 13.75 in day one. The Olympic beam bronze medalist is back and looking for more.

Simone Biles - Floor
When it comes to uncharacteristic errors, Simone Biles' fall on floor tops the list. This tumbling phenom had a very high back handspring on her final pass going into her full in, landing short and putting her hands down. Biles said “it was just a freaky thing" after the meet, and on day two, she stuck it cold like the Simone we all know. She took her floor score from a 14.90 to a 15.85. Biles called her day two competition the best one of her life so far, as she also showed a stunning beam routine, stuck Amanar, and solid bar set to total an incredible 63.00 all-around.

Marvin Kimble - High Bar
On day one, Kimble competed a very labored routine—catching a few releases much too close, missing several connections, and muscling through. He scored a disappointing 13.150. With huge untapped potential, it was obvious that Kimble had a big routine that he was ready to rock on day two. And he did just that, nailing all of his impressive releases and capping it off with a stuck dismount. He scored a 15.250, warranting the excitement that proceeded his salute.

Sam Mikulak - Floor
The three-time P&G Champion fought through a few falls before finding himself atop the podium by over a four point margin. Mikulak took a fall on day one on floor on his front full to front two and a half, landing very short and putting his hands down. He scored a 14.350, but came back on day two and earned the highest floor score of the day of a 15.80. He had a little extra height on every pass and nailed his landings like he had something to prove. And indeed he proved that he is a champion.
