This week’s stellar senior is Alabama’s Kaitlyn Clark, a California native and former elite gymnast. Kaitlyn started competing all-around for the Crimson Tide in her senior year and is particularly strong on… well, pretty much every event.

Kaitlyn came from Precision Gymnastics, where she was coached by Trent & Jill Spaulding. She was a member of the Senior National Team from 2009-2010 and finished tenth and ninth in the all-around at the 2009 and 2010 Senior National Championships, respectively. She also participated in several National Team selection camps, including the selection camp for the 2009 World Championship team.

Kaitlyn started her collegiate career with Alabama in 2012. She was the team’s star on the uneven bars, having competed on the event in all 14 meets of the season and scoring a career high of 9.9 that year. She also did well on vault, having scored a 9.9 on her full twisting Yurchenko in a meet against Arkansas.



She continued to improve on vault and bars in her sophomore year, and also ended up adding in beam. On vault, she competed in every meet of the season and scored multiple 9.9s, and never posted lower than a 9.8. She also continued to compete bars in every meet, and scored a crucial 9.9 during the Super Six Finals that year.

Kaitlyn’s junior year saw even more achievements, having been Second-Team All American on vault and becoming the SEC Uneven Bars Champion. She competed on vault, beam and bars in all 14 meets of the season. She scored a new career best on vault four times with a 9.925, including at the Super Six Finals. Kaitlyn also won uneven bars in five meets that season, including at the SEC Championships and the Super Six Finals. She posted a new career high on the event with a 9.975. Kaitlyn’s first 10.0 also came this year - on balance beam in a meet against Auburn, where she showed off perfect landings and beautiful dance moves during her routine. With the start of the 2015 season, Kaitlyn has become an all-around gymnast for Alabama, adding in floor and scoring higher and higher scores with each meet. She started the season with posting a 9.65 against Arizona, then raised her score to a 9.875 in a meet against Arkansas the next week. The past three times she competed floor (in meets against Florida, Auburn and Boise State) she has posted 9.9s. She has continued to score highly on her other events as well, including posting a career best 9.95 on vault in her first meet of the season.

Kaitlyn has always had very strong gymnastics that shows off both her power and precision. It’s great to see her now performing all four events in her senior year, and we look forward to seeing the remainder of her performances this season!
