It is every young gymnasts dream to compete at the Olympic games.  Unluckily, the committee is only able to select six gymnasts to represent the United States.  The rest of the talented gymnasts will pursue a new goal.  Aspiring them to look into collegiate gymnastics.

 

USA Gymnastics is a program based on individual feats.  Gymnasts work their way up, level by level with a desire to win.  Constantly competing against their teammates in hopes of qualifying to a larger competition.  Your teammates are there for support in practice but when it comes down to competition, it is teammate against teammate.

 

Collegiate gymnastics changes all of that.  The sport becomes less about individual achievements and more about the success of a team.  In college, there is a whole team depending on the success of each contributing member.   These girls who have competed for their own triumph finally learn what it means to have someone depending on them.  The switch creates more energy in the stands and on the floors during competitions. 

 

For two consecutive years, the Florida Gators gymnastics team won the NCAA National Championships.  And for the first time in NCAA history, the 2014 title was shared with the Oklahoma Sooners.  During the airing of the Championships, viewers got a glimpse into what goes on in the moments leading up to the announcement.   Every team huddled together giving words of support and leaning on each other.  In that moment it is noticeable that the championship is won together, no matter how big or small the contribution.
