Lovely Leos of the 2014 European Championships
The prestigious European Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria this year from May 14th-25th and there was so much going on that we almost forgot to take a look at one of the most important aspects- the leotards! Some of these leos we have seen before but they still deserve a nod of recognition.
Vote for your favorite at the bottom of the blog! Poll closes June 12th at midnight. Winner will be announced on the 13th!
5. Russia’s Ribbons Leo from Junior Team Finals
This beautiful leo combines, metallic material, mesh, rhinestones, and ribbons. The rhinestone borders the change in fabric perfectly and the swirling red and white ribbons standout against the otherwise simple bodice.
4. Vanessa Ferrari’s Biker Chick Leo
This bodice of this leo almost looks like leather and combined with the solid red lines and bursts of rhinestones we are reminded of a biker’s leather jacket, thus the Biker Chick leo. Ferrari’s electric style on floor perfectly matches this leo and the mesh arms balance out the piece adding a softer effect.
3. Aliya Mustafina’s Teal Leo
This elegant leo used a beautiful color not often see on leotards that really stood out. The subtle scattering of rhinestones added to but didn’t overwhelm the entire look. The only thing that bothered us was the transition between the mesh on the chest and the mesh on the arms. It looks almost as if it was a short sleeve leo and they decided to add arms to it last minute.
2. Britain’s Bumble Bee Leo
Great Britain wore this pattern in two different colors and while we love the blue one, we like the elegance of the black pattern just a little bit more. The leo has a regal look and uses a minimal but effective amount of rhinestones. The colors along with the golden scrunchie reminded us of bumble bees. But hey, bumble bees can be beautiful creatures.
1. Becky Downie’s Flag Leo
We love the country pride in this leo and it was perfect for the European Championships. The leo beautifully displays the British flag in a gorgeous pattern of rhinestones and blend of colors. Nothing negative to say here!
