Japan has named Rie Tanaka, Yu Minobe, Asuka Teramoto, Koko Tsurumi, and Yuko Shintake as their 2012 Olympic team.
The Olympic team was chosen after the NHK Cup this week which consisted of two days of competition.
Each member of the team competed at last year’s World Championships. The team placed 7th in the team final and in the all around Koko Tsurumi placed 15th and Rie Tanaka 20th. In the apparatus finals, Asuka Teramoto placed 5th and Koko Tsurumi 7th on uneven bars.
Koko Tsurumi won bronze in the all around at the 2009 World Championships at the O2 Arena in London, the same venue that will be used for the artistic gymnastics competitions this summer during the Olympics.
