Oklahoma Athletes Earn Weekly Honors
As a reward for their dominant performances, athletes from Oklahoma's men's and women's gymnastics team recieved weekly honors from their respective conferences.
On the men's side, Jake Dalton was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the week. Taking home the all-around title along with event titles in floor, parallel bars, high bar, and rings in Oklahoma's meet with, then number two, Ohio State, Dalton tied a career high 16.250 on floor and set a career high on high bar with a 15.550. Dalton's dominating performance lead #3 Oklahoma to defeat #2 Ohio State by a score of 353.150-347.750.
For the women, Taylor Spears and Sara Stone both received weekly honors from the Big 12. Spears was named Gymnast of the week after claiming the all-around title in her first collegiate appearance as an all-around, scoring a 39.200 at the TWU quad meet. Stone was named Event Specialist of the week after setting career highs on vault, with a 9.925 and taking home the event title, and on beam where she scored a 9.85 also at the TWU quad met. Both gymnasts pushed Oklahoma to be the first team in the NCAA to score over the 197-mark this season on the road with a team score of 197.450.
