Close Finish In The Windy City, Illini Defend Title
The 2016 edition of the Windy City Invitational came down to the wire in a fight between three teams for the trophy. In the final rotation, Illinois tumbled
The 2016 edition of the Windy City Invitational came down to the wire in a fight between three teams for the trophy. In the final rotation, Illinois tumbled there way to victory on floor lead by a 14.9 from Chandler Eggleston to finish with a 225.95. Ohio State finished in 2nd just .25 behind the Illini after posting 4 of the top 10 p-bar scores lead by Sean Melton's 15.1. Minnesota came into the final rotation with the lead but ran into problems on their final event pommel horse posting a 68.6 and finished 3rd with a 224.5.
In the All Around competition, Ohio State Freshman Tristan Burke had a consistent performance on all six events to take the title with a 86.00 in his collegiate debut. Illinois sophomore Bobby Baker finished 2nd with a 85.35 just ahead of Minnesota's Tristan Duran who finished 3rd with a 85.25.
