Danna Durante Let Go As Georgia's Head Coach After Five Seasons
University of Georgia gymnastics coach Danna Durante will not be retained, according to an announcement Tuesday by UGA J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Greg McGarity.
Danna Durante has been fired from her position as Georgia's head gymnastics coach, following a 15-15 season and a 12th-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity announced the school's decision on Tuesday morning in a release. Durante, 44, guided the Gymdogs through five seasons and took the team to the Super Six three times during her tenure -- once over the past three years. Under Durante, Georgia's highest finish at Super Six was fifth.
In the school's statement, McGarity addressed the program's search for its third head coach in the past eight years:

We will move forward with a national search as quickly as possible to fill the head coaching position for our gymnastics team.Georgia recently released three gymnasts after what it called a "restructuring of team" and postponed its end-of-the-season banquet until August. The shakeup in UGA's coaching staff brings into question whether or not those gymnasts will be reinstated. McGarity confirmed to The Red & Black that the new head coach will have the final decision.
