Utah Takes Down Oregon State In Season's First Pac-12 Match-Up
Yesterday afternoon 15,000 fans packed into the Huntsman Center to see the No. 6 Utah Red Rocks defeat the No. 11 Oregon State Beavers in the first Pac-12 match-up of the season.

Junior Madeline Gardiner led the Beavers, winning the all-around with a 39.150 and being awarded OSU MVP at the end of the meet. The team posted solid scores on vault, bars, and floor, but stumbled during beam, posting a team total of 48.000. Freshman McKenna Singley, from a Salt Lake City suburb, posted a 9.800 on vault and a 9.875 on bars. Other strong performances were a 9.850 from Shireen Khamedoost on bars, Kaytianna McMillan's 9.850 on beam, and 9.850 floor routines from Risa Perez and Jamie Radermacher.

High scores from Utah were posted throughout the team, without one superstar emerging. Baely Rowe was chosen as MVP after scoring a 9.950 on bars and 9.900 on beam and all-arounder Kari Lee posted a 39.150. Other standout performances were career highs on floor from Breanna Hughes (9.900), Sabrina Schwab (9.925), and Samantha Partyka (9.875), as well as a 9.900 vault from Hughes and 9.875 on bars from senior Kassandra Lopez. But despite great performances from Hughes, Schwab, and Partyka, floor was Utah's weakest event (scoring a 48.425). Head coach Tom Farden says that the team will use this long week to work on floor in the gym, as their next meet is not until next Monday.
