To follow up on the level 10 season and the new Junior Olympic national champions, we're highlighting the top all-arounders over the next few weeks.
In this edition, we caught up with Senior E champion,
Houchin trains at Gold Medal Gymnastics in Republic, Missouri. She scored a 38.475 at J.O. Nationals to secure the all-around title in the Senior E age group.
FloGymnastics: What was the highlight of the meet for you?
Taylor Houchin: My beam routine. Not only was it the last event, but it was the best I had done all year. Beam is my favorite and most consistent event, so I really wanted to hit my routine. When I did, I was so happy!
How did you find out that you won?
After the meet, I went over to my family and hugged them all. My boyfriend told me I was in the lead. Then, my mom said only two girls had to go; depending on how they did, it would determine if I stayed in first.
(She did!)
As a graduating senior, what’s next for you?
I am going to the University of Nebraska on June 5 to start training while taking two summer classes. I will attend Nebraska in the fall with a gymnastics scholarship.
What are you looking forward to most about next year?
I've always had only one or two teammates my age, so I'm most excited about having a whole team of girls my age.

I just want to thank my coaches and parents for all the support throughout the years. I'd be nothing without their persistence to make me the best I could be.
