This morning, junior star Jordan Chiles of Naydenov Gymnastics announced the end of her final junior season. Chiles has withdrawn from the 2016 P&G Championships after an awkward landing during training which caused a deep bone bruise.
She announced the decision on her Instagram this morning and would have competed later today.
She is the latest of multiple gymnasts to withdraw from the national championships.
Chiles most recently finished fourth in the all-around at the 2016 Secret U.S. Classic, where she competed a difficult Amanar vault. Coming into Championships, she was expected to contend for the junior title, making way for other juniors to place and compete for the title.
The Washington native has had a stellar season so far. She helped Team USA win gold at the 2016 Gymnix International Junior Cup. At the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy, she won the all-around and vault, and tied for second on bars.
She will return to competition next year in her first year as a senior—we're looking forward to her debut!
