Recap: Ragan Smith Secures 1st International AA Title At AT&T American Cup
The 2017 American Cup was an exciting display of international talent on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Americans dominated the top of the podium with Ragan Smith winning the women's title and Yul Moldauer clinching the men's title.

USA's Riley McCusker had a few falls throughout the competition but fought hard in her first international meet and finished in fifth with a 52.966.

On the men's side, Moldauer posted a 85.931 to win first all-around. Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev earned silver with a 85.699, and USA's Akash Modi received bronze with a 84.398.

Smith opened up with a double-twisting Yurchenko to start her meet on a solid note. Despite a few form breaks throughout the vault, she scored a 14.433, which was the top vault score of the day.

Teramoto's front handspring front layout half scored a 13.766, and McCusker competed her double-twisting Yurchenko for the first time, also scoring a 13.766.

Kim Bui of Germany was outstanding on bars and scored a 14.533 for first on the event. She soared on her release moves, including a piked Jaeger to Pak and a gorgeous Shaposh to Pak full. She finished with a stuck dismount to secure the gold.

Smith performed a solid bar routine, capped off by a stuck full-twisting double back to score a 14.400. Yufen Xie of China posted a 13.833 to take third behind Smith. McCusker, who normally excels on bars, took a fall on her Downie and had a big form break on her Pak salto, scoring a 13.100.

On beam, it was De Jesus dos Santos who shined the brightest. She scored a 14.233 for this solid routine that included a lovely back handspring layout series and a stuck roundoff double back.

Both Smith and McCusker took uncharacteristic falls on beam. McCusker had an early wobble on a double wolf turn but managed to stay on the beam. She moved through the rest of her routine with only minor wobbles, but on her dismount, her foot slipped on the punch and she took a scary fall on her neck. However, she got up, saluted, and walked off the podium. Smith was solid throughout her routine other than an unpredictable fall on her standing back tuck full. She scored a 13.266 and still earned the bronze medal.

Smith finished strong with her "Addams Family" floor routine, performing it with style for a 14.0. She opened with a solid double layout, and her second pass -- a 1 1/2 twist through to a triple twist -- was executed incredibly well. She landed a little short on her final pass, but the routine was more than enough to secure her the gold on the event as well as the all-around.

McCusker came back strong on floor and debuted her new choreography, which was paired with impressive tumbling. She took second with a 13.50, and Bui was third with a 13.133. Teramoto posted a 13.066 on floor to clinch the silver in the all-around.

MEN

Moldauer started the meet with a bang on floor, showing impeccable tumbling for a 14.566. He opened with a big front 2 1/2 twist, nailed his landings throughout the routine, and closed with a triple twist.

Verniaiev posted the highest score on both pommel horse and rings with a 14.700 and a 14.633, respectively. On vault, Eddy Yusof of Switzerland hit his Tsuk double pike for a 14.70, which earned him gold on the event.
