Chris Brooks Announces Retirement From Gymnastics
First it was Jake Dalton retiring just a few days ago, and now Chris Brooks has also announced his retirement from gymnastics.
First it was Jake Dalton retiring just a few days ago, and now Chris Brooks has also announced his retirement from gymnastics.
Brooks had a very long and successful career, which was capped off by him becoming a member of the 2016 Rio Olympic team and competing in the all-around final. Brooks was planning to continue with gymnastics following the Games but has always battled with keeping his body healthy. In announcing his retirement, he said finally, "my body won."
Earlier this year, Brooks won the high bar title at the 2017 Winter Cup -- a fitting final title on his signature event.
During the senior men's competition at the 2017 P&G Championships in Anaheim, CA, this weekend, Brooks told the crowd about his decision and said he plans to pursue a job in coaching. He dubbed himself a "gym rat," saying,
