CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri — Southeast Missouri director of athletics Brady Barke announced Wednesday that head women's gymnastics coach Kristi Ewasko's contract will not be renewed.

"I want to thank Kristi for her service and commitment to our university for the past eight years as head coach," Barke said.

"After evaluating the current state of our women's gymnastics program, I believe it is in the best interest of the program to initiate a change in leadership. I wish Kristi the best of luck in her future endeavors."

Ewasko has been placed on paid administrative leave through the end of her contract, and Brittney Emmons will assume duties as the Redhawks acting head coach, effective immediately.
