INDIANAPOLIS, May 13, 2021 – Many of the nation’s top women’s artistic gymnasts are set to face off May 21-22 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The 2021 GK U.S. Classic features junior and senior competitions and will be headlined by numerous Olympic medalists and World champions. The event also serves as the final opportunity for female gymnasts to qualify to the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which will be held June 3-6 in Fort Worth, Texas. The 2021 GK Hopes Championships will be held in conjunction with the GK U.S. Classic and features rising stars from the women’s artistic discipline. The annual event marks the end of the 2021 Hopes season.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre will look to defend her 2019 GK U.S. Classic all-around title. Fellow Olympic medalists Laurie Hernandez of Old Bridge, N.J./Gym-Max Gymnastics and Chellsie Memmel of Dousman, Wis./M and M Gymnastics are also set to compete with the latter marking her return to elite competition after a nine-year hiatus. 2017 World all-around champion Morgan Hurd of Middletown, Del./First State Gymnastics and team World gold medalists Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Sunrays, Kara Eaker, of Grain Valley, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express, Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center, Grace McCallum of Isanti, Minn./Twin City Twisters, Riley McCusker of Brielle, N.J./Arizona Sunrays, and MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights Gymnastics hope to use this opportunity to establish themselves as contenders for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Winter Cup all-around champion Jordan Chiles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre, American Classic all-around champion Skye Blakely of Frisco, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics, and 2019 GK U.S. Classic junior all-around champion Konnor McClain of Cross Lanes, W.Va./Revolution Gymnastics will add even more competition to a crowded field of senior gymnasts.

In the junior division, Winter Cup all-around champion Ella Kate Parker of West Chester, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics and American Classic all-around champion Kailin Chio of Henderson, Nev./Gymcats Gymnastics will look to build on their early-season success with another strong showing ahead of the U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

Due to the volume of competitors qualified to compete in the GK U.S. Classic senior division, the field will be divided between two sessions on Saturday, May 22. Session assignments were chosen by random draw per USA Gymnastics’ rules and policies. The junior competition has been moved to Friday, May 21, and both GK Hopes Championships divisions, 11-12 and 13-14, will compete in a single session.

The event will be open to limited spectators with the priority for purchasing tickets given to local member clubs.

The GK Hopes Championships will air live on FloGymnastics May 21 at 1:45 p.m. ET, followed by the GK U.S. Classic junior competition at 6:45 p.m. ET. The first senior session on May 22 will stream on NBC’s Peacock, starting at 1 p.m. ET; the second senior session will be broadcast on NBCSN May 22 at 7 p.m. ET.
