TOKYO, August 2, 2021 – Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz., took the top spot on floor exercise during Monday’s event finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Carey, the second competitor to perform, delivered a 14.366, setting a bar that would not be eclipsed. Vanessa Ferrari of Italy claimed the silver medal with a 14.200, and Mai Murakami of Japan and Angelina Melnikova of the Russian Olympic Committee shared the bronze medal with a 14.166.

Following fellow UCLA gymnast Nia Dennis’ viral floor performance less than three weeks ago, junior Margzetta Frazier’s floor routine is circling online. From Women’s Health, to Yahoo! Life, PopSugar, LA Times, Huffington Post, USA Today and many more, everyone is watching her latest routine that scored a 9.925 on February 10th against BYU. 

Everyone's standard of what "going viral" exactly means is different these days, but I think it's safe to say that when ESPN, Janet Jackson, Women's Health, Sports Center, BET, Karamo, Oprah Magazine, the LA Times, CNN, Billboard, and countless others repost your routine, you've done it. 

Of the four events in gymnastics, floor is always a crowd favorite. Of course it draws attention because of the exciting tumbling and fun choreography, but it’s also fun to hear the music that each athlete selects to compete to. There are so many songs I wish I’d hear more as floor music, but here are just ten of them. 

Over 130 gymnasts from 35 countries are set to compete in Glasgow, Scotland, for the 2018 European Championships. The women's competition begins on August 2 and concludes August 12. FloGymnastics will be streaming starting August 4, the senior team finals August 4, and the junior and senior event finals August 5, as well as portions of the men's competition on August 9-10 and 12.

With the 2018 GK U.S. Classic right around the corner — this weekend in Columbus, Ohio — we thought it would be fun to throw it back to previous Classics and list some of our favorite routines. 

The women's floor exercise final will take place on Tuesday, August 16, at 1:00PM EST, along with the men's parallel bars final and men's high bar final. Six countries will be represented in the floor final with the top eight qualifiers competing.
