2012 women's J.O. National Championships Results

National champions were named in eight age divisions at the 2012 J.O. National Championships, the culmination of the level 10 gymnastics season. Also, the top four gymnasts in each age division qualified to the 2012 Junior Olympic National team. Below you can find top results from each session of competition.  Junior A - Felicia Hano of San Gabriel, Calif./West Coast Elite, won the all-around title with a score of 38.200 and also won vault with a score of 9.800. Lexi Graber of Cape Coral, Fla./Southern Starz Gymnastics, took second in the all-around with a score of 37.700. There was a three-way tie for third place, all scoring 37.675, between Norah Flatley of West Des Moines, Iowa/Chows, Alexis Vasquez of West Des Moines, Iowa/Chows, and Grace Glenn of Southeastern. Anna Glenn of Charlotte, N.C./Southeastern, won the uneven bars title with a score of 9.575 while Flatley won beam with a 9.725 and Wynter Childers of Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish, won the floor exercise title with a score of 9.600. Region 8 won the Junior A team title with a score of 151.275, followed by Region 3 with 151.175 and Region 1 with a score of 151.125. Follow the 2012 J.O. women's National Championships

The 2012 USA Gymnastics level 10 season will culminate this week in Virginia with the Junior Olympic National Championships, and Gymnastike will be on-site for video coverage of the event!  This year's J.O. Nationals will feature nearly 450 of the USA's best Level 10 gymnasts. Competition will take place in Hampton, Virginia May 11-12 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center and is hosted by USA Gymnastics and World Class Gymnastics club. It's true! Wieber, and many other current and former US National team members competed in the J.O. program in their journey to stardom. To name a few: 2012 Olympic hopeful Kyla Ross, 2009 World vault champion Kayla Williams, 2008 Olympic beam champion Shawn Johnson, 2008 Olympic silver medalist Samantha Peszek, and 2004 Olympic silver medalist Courtney McCool. We'll be on the lookout for future Olympians in Hampton!  What's at stake? National titles will be awarded in the all around as well as all 4 individual events in each of the 8 age divisions. The top four all-around athletes in each age division will qualify to the 2012 Junior Olympic National Team and are invited to attend a National Training Camp, scheduled for Nov. 10-14, at the Karolyi Ranch.  The winning Regions will also be determined at the conclusion of the competition. Region 1 is the defending super team Champion.  The Favorites Reigning all around Champions returning to defend their titles: Alex McMurtry of Richmond Olympiad Beth Gangale of Brown's Las Vegas Katie Bailey of High Point Charity Jones of Dynamo-OK Top Teams at the 2012 JO National Championships: The team with the most level 10 national qualifiers for 2012 is WOGA Gymnastics of Texas and Region 3, advancing a total of 16 athletes to Hampton. Of their 16 qualifiers, two of them won their Regional titles: Dana Ho (Sr A) and Ashlyn Broussard (Sr C).  Parkettes left the Region 7 meet with a total of 11 national qualifiers and three Regional all around Champions: Taylor Lawson (Jr A), Ajiea Hargrave (Sr A), and Madeline Hanley (Sr C). The club with the most Regional all around champions in the country was Geddert's Twistars USA. Of their 10 level 10 national qualifiers, 5 of them are Regional all around Champions with a chance to claim the national title: Rachel Cutler (jr B), Bailey Gardner (Jr C), Anna Hill (Jr D), and Kamerin Moore (Sr A). And don't forget about 2010 JO National Champion Grace Williams back from elite (Jr D). Checking in with 9 national qualifiers each are Twin City Twisters of Minnesota and Region 4 and Gold Medal Gymnastics-Huntington of New York and Region 6. TCT produced three Regional Champions: Gracie Cherrey (Jr C), Hanna Nordquist (Sr C), and Breanna Hughes (Sr D), while Gold Medal had two: Christina Postiglione (Sr B) and Stephanie Miceli (Sr C).  The Regional team to beat?  Region 3's senior B team. Every athlete on this team but 1 has scored over 38 in the all around this season, with Sophia Lee even scoring a massive 39.025 to win the Texas State title. 2012 Regional Results & JO National Qualifiers!

The Junior Olympic Regional Championships concluded this past weekend with Regions 4, 6, and 7. By placing in the top seven all around (with over a 34.0), gymnasts advanced to the 2012 JO National Championships where they will compete with their Regional age group in team competition and contend for individual national titles.  Below are the gymnasts who qualified to compete at the 2012 JO National Championships, May 10-12 in Hampton, VA.  REGION 1 complete Region 1 Results  JUNIOR A 1.
