Denver & Oregon State Earn Upset Bids To NCAA Championships

On the last night of regionals anything can happen, and Saturday’s action at the Corvallis regional finals proved that. No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Denver, No. 12 Boise State, and No. 15 Oregon State matched up in the final evening of competition, but only two could move on to the NCAA Championships.

Florida, Denver, Boise State & Oregon State In Corvallis Regional Final

After Thursday night’s play-in round of Iowa versus Arizona, Iowa moved on to the second night of competition. The second day of competition had two sessions of four teams, and the top two teams in each second move on to Saturday’s competition. Out of these eight teams, only Florida and Washington made it to nationals last year.

Iowa Comes From Behind To Advance Out Of Regional Play-In

On the first night of the three-day NCAA gymnastics regional in Corvallis, Iowa and Arizona matched up in a dual meet. Arizona started off strong, but Iowa eventually overtook the lead, passing Arizona by a larger margin with every rotation. The final score was 195.850-194.550, and Iowa will move on to tomorrow’s regional competition.
