The 2018 GK U.S. Classic took place on Saturday with both a junior and senior competition. The senior competition was broadcast on the Olympic Channel with commentary, focusing on several of the top athletes — most notably Simone Biles, which is more than understandable.

The 2018 Junior Pan American Games concluded last week in Buenos Aires, with Team USA taking home the team gold medal, in addition to multiple individual medals for Jordan Bowers, Leanne Wong, and Tori Tatum. Team Canada also took home multiple medals, including the team silver and individual medals for Zoe Allaire-Bourgie and Imogen Paterson. 

The 2018 Junior Pan American Championships takes place this week, with competition starting on June 13 and concluding on June 15 in Buenos Aires. The event includes a team final, all-around final, and event finals for both the men and women. Team USA is sending top juniors Jordan Bowers, JaFree Scott, Tori Tatum, and Leanne Wong. 

A day after taking the team title and the top two spots in both the junior and senior all-arounds, the U.S. women picked up an additional 12 medals in event finals at the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships in Medellin, Colombia. Defending world champion Morgan Hurd was held out of the uneven bars and floor exercise finals for precautionary reasons after a scary beam set during the team and all-around competition.

In their debuts with the U.S national team, Grace McCallum and Jordan Bowers came away with the all-around titles Saturday night at the Pacific Rim Championships in Medellin, Colombia. McCallum finished with a 54.850 to take the senior crown while Bowers earned a 53.600 in the junior division.

Every two years, gymnasts from the Pacific Rim countries gather to compete in a major international meet that presents the rare opportunity for junior and senior elite gymnasts to all compete as one team in the team competition. 

After a two-day verification event in Spring, Texas, USA Gymnastics has just announced the team that will travel to Medellin, Colombia, and compete in the 2018 Pacific Rims Championships April 27-29.

USA Gymnastics recently gave fans a sneak peek into the verification process for major international elite competitions by live-streaming the February verification camp. The camp was hosted at LSU’s training facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and served as an opportunity for gymnasts to verify routines, qualify for domestic competitions, and compete for a spot at the World Cup events in Stuttgart, Birmingham, and Tokyo, and the alternate spot at the American Cup.
