3. Aliya Mustafina

Mustafina came out on fire at the Rio Olympics and led Team Russia throughout the Games. She was the most decorated Russian athlete in the Rio Games, just as she was four years ago in London. Mustafina helped the team to a silver medal and also secured the bronze in the all-around. She closed out her impressive Games with a gold on uneven bars -- defending her London title.

2. Aly Raisman

Raisman catapulted into 2016 with style. She was a rock all year and earned the honor of being captain of the U.S. Olympic team. While being dubbed "grandma" of the team at 22 years old, she proved she only gets better with age. Raisman helped lead the Final Five to team gold, secured silver in the all-around, and also finished out with a silver on floor.

1. Simone Biles

null

Following Rio 2016, Simone Biles no longer needs an introduction anywhere she goes. She has established herself as the greatest gymnast of all time. Biles been named espnW's Woman of the Year, BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and a finalist for Time Person of the Year -- and those are just the awards she has racked up within the last few weeks. Biles is the fifth woman ever, and the first from the United States, to win four gymnastics golds at a single Olympics. Her 19 world and Olympic medals officially make her the most decorated American gymnast in history.
